The Musical Theatre School opened in January 2010 and provides classes for adults who want a fun pastime in their leisure hours and who enjoy the world of Musical Theatre - Song and Dance or just singing only.
It really doesn't matter if you've never sung or danced before. You will be taught by music and dance professionals. For this term classes are once a week.
We do not have exams, grades or diplomas and no previous experience of performing is necessary at all. There are no auditions for entry and you don’t have to sing like Judy Garland or dance like Fred Astaire, in fact you don't have to sing or dance at all, we will teach you - you just have to love musicals!
It is not necessary to speak fluent English: an elementary knowledge of English is sufficient.
Musical Theatre is a great, fun way to keep fit too. As a fitness guide, if you can manage a ballroom quickstep or even a waltz you will be fine.
 CURRICULUM
The history of musicals, to include footage of the work of some of the great, musical theatre stars, as well as singing and dance technique. Basic musicology to include score reading, transposing, key recognition and harmony singing.
There will be talks on the rehearsing, production and direction of musicals. Above all, though, we shall enjoy the pleasure of the performance of numbers from famous musicals. Songs will be learnt and then choreographed and staged. Dialogue will be used when appropriate.
Each term will have a totally different syllabus. Songs are chosen from musicals dating from the 1930's to the present day
